Three Fantacide Factions

Architects of War produce a fantasy skirmish game called Fanticide. The game has some really interesting models and here are some from three factions: the Flying Monkeys, the Fae, and the Creeps.

The Creepy Mother

These are some really neat and unusual models. Allison really outdid herself in painting the eyes on the Creeps. Not only do they look realistic but the have a 'creepy' look to them due to the yellow color. We have some additional pieces to add to these warbands, plus a centaur warband, that you will see this summer.

The Hobbit: Escape From Hobbitown

With the release of the Hobbit we've seen an uptick in orders for GW's Lord of the Rings figures and their new line for the Hobbit movie. We matched our painting more to the images from the movie then from the paint jobs that Games Workshop's team of painters did.

Here's images of one of the three Escape From Goblintown box sets we recently did.

The set comes with 56 miniatures including the Goblin King and some platforms from Goblintown.

The figures are plastic. The fit for assembly was superb. The joins for some pieces were excellent in that the seam was hidden once assembled.

The Dwarves with Gandalf, Rhadagast, and Bilbo

The figure of Rhadagast is pretty dynamic showing lots of motion. If you pick up this set take care during assembly; I found it easier to deviate from their assembly order to put the miniature together.

The Goblin Scribe

The Scribe was a bit of a pain to put together. You have to get the two vertical poles into the base while adding the wheel and the arm. It is tricky to get it all together and lined up correctly.

The Great Eagles do not come in the Goblintown set. The were and additional add-on from one customer.

The platforms were primed and the wood painted on the sprues. The they were removed and the details painted up. I was working on three sets at one time plus the Goblintown expansion set. There are a ton of bones on the platforms; it took me over a day just to paint all the bones from the four sets!

The Goblintown Expansion set. This set of platforms does not come in the Escape From Goblintown box.

All in all a nice set of miniatures. We were slightly disappointed though that some of the miniatures did not match the characters they represented in the movie. In other words some artistic license was taken while sculpting the figures. I had picked up a nice book of stills from the movie as a color reference which made it easy to see the differences.
