More Flying Monkeys!

We also recently completed another Flying Monkey set for a customer. These figures are for Architects of War's Fanticide line. Again Allison varied this one up a bit. For the band she used some glitter on the vests to simulate sequins. She also varied the carpets up a bit, and did the gorilla as an albino.

More Creeps!

We had another commission for Creeps from Architects of War's Fantacide line of figures. We did these pretty much like the last set, only Allison varied up the eye colors on these.

That's one heck of a lot of eyeballs and I think Allison did a fantastic job on them. I like the effect of the various colors of the eyes on this batch. It adds some variety to the figures and even seems to make them even creepier, in my opinion.

Back from Vacation

We left this:

 To come back to this:

Well we are back from vacation and will get things back up and running over the next week. Luckily I have a few projects started from before I left so I can try to get them completed. There's a bunch of prep work to do too to get things going for deliveries in January and to start the work due at Cold Wars.

In the meantime you can always check out our Facebook Page for more of a daily update kind of thing.

Last of 2013 Christmas Orders: 120mm German Cavalryman

The last order we needed to get ready for Christmas was a 120mm German SS cavalryman. The kit was from Verlinden and when we opened it up there were several pieces missing. I contacted the company but they said the kit was out of production and there was no way to replace the pieces. We made a decision to try sculpting a couple of the missing pieces.

Allison and I both worked on the figure. I did most of the assembly, priming, and base coating. I also worked on the horse and the camouflage.  Allison worked on the flesh and attaching the pieces to the base, the leather, and eyes. In addition she sculpted the missing pieces.

As an upper level kit you were expected to scrath-build the reins, feed bag strap, and a couple of the belts for the saddle as well. They have included a tiny piece of foil to do so with but it was a joke; there was maybe enough material to make the two belts for the saddle and that was about it. I had to scrounge around for some thicker foil to make the other bits out of.

This last pic to to show the scale of the piece. At 1200mm it is considerably larger than we usually deal with. The smaller figure in the picture is a 28mm Reaper and it shows just how much larger the cavalryman is.

In all I'm pleased with how the piece turned out. Now I just have to figure out a way to pack it up to ship it safely to the customer!

Warhammer 40K Space Marines Blood Angels

Some pictures of a small 40K commission: Blood Angels Assault Marines. These were painted and based to match a trooper the client had sent. That's always a tough thing to do since styles may vary widely. It wasn't too bad on this project though once I came up with a plan:

I'm pleased with the way they came out. They match the figure sent pretty closely. The red came out nice a vibrant really catching the eye.
